On 15 August 2011, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1988 (2011) approved the addition of the entry specified below to the Committee’s List (the 1988 List) of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 1988 (2011):

Eighth Anniversary of Attack against United Nations Office in Baghdad to Be Observed at New York Headquarters, 19 August

The eighth anniversary of the bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad will be observed on Friday, 19 August, at a brief ceremony to be held at 10:15 a.m. in the public lobby of the General Assembly Building, in front of the memorial plaque located outside the Meditation Room.

Head of United Nations Office for Central Africa Urges Security Council to Help Promote Preventive Diplomacy, Security in Subregion

The head of the newly established United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa this morning called on the Security Council to provide ongoing support for its efforts to stem cross-border threats to security in the region such as piracy, illicit small arms traffic, rebel militias and massive refugee returns due to the instability in Libya.

Observance of International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People, 29 November

The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will hold a special meeting in observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, in Conference Room 2, North Lawn Building, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, 29 November, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 32/40 B of 2 December 1977.
