Photo Exhibit ‘Visual Voices: Youth Perspectives on Global Issues’ on Display at Headquarters to Mark International Youth Year

An exhibition of youth photographs entitled, “Visual Voices: Youth Perspectives on Global Issues” will open in the South Gallery of the Visitors’ Lobby at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, 12 August to mark the International Year of Youth.

The Government of Chad had made significant strides towards assuming its responsibilities in civilian protection, but the sustainability of its specialized forces, as well as security in the north-east Central African Republic needed urgent attention as peacekeepers withdrew, a top United Nations official told the Security Council today.

International Year of Youth to Be Launched Today at Headquarters, on theme of ‘Dialogue and Mutual Understanding’

The International Year of Youth is being launched today in the General Assembly Hall with an eclectic event of speeches, musical performances, videos and poetry. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will be on hand with welcoming words to kick off the Year, which runs from 12 August 2010 to 11 August 2011 under the theme “dialogue and mutual understanding”.
