The Secretary-General welcomed a “key milestone” in Geneva today towards a universal climate change agreement.  He said the negotiating text covers such areas as mitigation, adaptation, finance, technology and capacity-building, and noted the Climate Convention Chief’s satisfaction with the swift pace of the work. 

Concluding Fifty-third Session, Commission for Social Development Recommends Four Draft Resolutions for Adoption by Economic and Social Council

Concluding its fifty-third session today, the Commission for Social Development approved by consensus four draft resolutions for adoption by the Economic and Social Council that addressed issues of African development, ageing, youth and the rights of persons with disabilities.

Concluding Regular Session, Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations Recommends Status for 124 Entities, Defers 176 Others

The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today concluded its regular session with the adoption of its report, in which it recommended that the Economic and Social Council grant consultative status to 124 of the 330 applicants it considered during its session.
