Secretary-General Hails Launch of ‘New Era’ for Global Partnership as General Assembly Endorses Framework for Development Financing

The General Assembly today adopted a resolution endorsing the Addis Ababa Action Agenda of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development, a “new global framework” that many said would strengthen cooperation in technology, infrastructure and social protections that were key to realizing inclusive sustainable development.

The UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, MINUSMA, has condemned an attack on its camp in Aguelhok, which was today targeted by mortar fire.  MINUSMA peacekeepers reinforced the camp and sent out patrols to locate the area from where the shells were fired and ensure the safety of the civilian population.

Opening the first meeting of its 2016 session today, the Economic and Social Council elected, by acclamation, Oh Joon (Republic of Korea) as its new President and adopted the provisional agenda and working arrangements for its upcoming session.
