On 26 August 2016, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2140 (2014) enacted the amendments specified with underline and strikethrough in the entries below on its List of individuals subject to the assets freeze and travel ban measures set out in paragraphs 11 and 15, respectively, of resolution 2140 (2014) and the arms embargo set out in paragraph 14 of resolution 2216 (2015) adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations.

The Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, said the people of Darayya must be protected in any evacuation that takes place, and that this takes place voluntarily.  He strongly appeals to the Co-Chairs of the International Syria Support Group and co-sponsors of the cessation of hostilities to ensure compliance with international humanitarian law.

At its fifty-eighth meeting, on 17 May 2016, the Security Council Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict, in connection with the examination of the second report of the Secretary-General on children and armed conflict in Iraq (S/2015/852), agreed to address the following message through a public statement issued by the Char of the Working Group.

The Secretary-General expressed his deepest condolences to the President and to the people of Italy for the loss of life and destruction caused by the earthquake that occurred yesterday, and which led to hundreds of victims.  He assured him of the readiness of the United Nations to provide assistance, if requested.

Having reached a historic milestone in resuming control of its own security, Liberia — along with its international partners — must redouble efforts to sustain progress and meet the challenge of upcoming elections, the senior United Nations official in that country told the Security Council today.

The situation in Kosovo over the past three months had become more stable, but the threat of security and political tensions still lurked beneath the surface, the head of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) told the Security Council today.
