United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Madam Ban Soon-taek travelled from United Nations Headquarters to Madison, New Jersey, in the morning of Wednesday, 10 September, arriving in the early afternoon at the campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), where the Secretary-General was to receive an honorary doctorate degree.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Turin on Thursday, 28 August, where the following morning he opened a two-day retreat with about 60 senior United Nations officials, Under-Secretaries-General and Assistant Secretaries-General coming from New York Headquarters as well as Geneva, Vienna and Nairobi.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, accompanied by Madam Ban Soon-taek, arrived in Sapporo, Hokkaido, in northern Japan from Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Monday morning, 7 July.  He immediately travelled by road to the site of the Summit of the Group of Eight (G-8) leaders gathering at Toyako ( Lake Toya).
