Discussing the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo today, Security Council members underscored the importance of the holding of fair and credible elections, as the electoral process in that country continued amid continued increasing violence and unrest.
On 6 March 2018, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) concerning ISIL (Da’esh), Al-Qaida approved the addition of the entries specified below to its ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions List of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 2368 (2017), adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations:
The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the heinous and cowardly attack against education workers near Markounda in the north‑western part of the Central African Republic (Ouham prefecture) on 25 February 2018 by unknown assailants, which resulted in the killing of one United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) education consultant, two officials of the Ministry of Education of the Central African Republic and three members of a UNICEF national partner organization, Bangui Sans Frontières.
On 28 February 2018, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2374 (2017) concerning Mali held informal consultations to consider the first interim update of its Panel of Experts, submitted in accordance with paragraph 11 of resolution 2374 (2017).

The Security Council today decided to extend until 28 February 2019 the mandate of the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea‑Bissau (UNIOGBIS), also deciding to review the sanctions imposed on that country and pledging to take additional measures if its crisis continued to worsen.
