Secretary-General Appoints Under-Secretary-General Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal as Coordinator for Multilingualism

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed the incoming Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information, Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal of Austria, as Coordinator for Multilingualism, in implementation of General Assembly resolutions 54/64 of 1999 and 61/266 of 2007, by which the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to appoint a senior official as coordinator of the questions relating to multilingualism throughout the Secretariat.

Secretary-General Appoints Toby Lanzer of United Kingdom as Deputy Special Representative in South Sudan

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Toby Lanzer of the United Kingdom as his Deputy Special Representative in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), where he will also serve as United Nations Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
