United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon flew from New York to Paris on Thursday evening, 3 December, to resume participation in the twenty-first Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP).

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Catherine Pollard of Guyana, Under-Secretary-General for General Assembly and Conference Management, as the new Coordinator for Multilingualism, in implementation of General Assembly resolution 69/250. In this role, Ms. Pollard is responsible for coordinating the overall implementation of multilingualism Secretariat-wide. This appointment is made pursuant to General Assembly resolutions 54/64 of 1999 and 61/266 of 2007 on the appointment of a senior official as coordinator of questions relating to multilingualism.
