Secretary-General Condemns Terrorist Attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Stressing Need to Intensify Regional, International Efforts for Preventing, Combating Terrorism

The Secretary-General condemns the terrorist attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh, over 1 and 2 July. He expresses his deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Bangladesh. He wishes a speedy recovery to those injured.

Security Council Press Statement on Terrorist Attack in Bangladesh

The members of the Security Council strongly condemned the heinous and cowardly terrorist attack perpetrated in the city of Dhaka, Bangladesh, on 1 July 2016, which resulted in more than 20 Bangladeshi nationals and foreigners, including development workers, killed and many injured, for which ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant/Da’esh) has claimed responsibility.
