THE HAGUE, 14 June (Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) -- the Government of the Russian Federation finally adopted its revised chemical weapons destruction programme. Accordingly, the destruction of the Russian chemical weapons stockpile, which has already commenced on a limited scale, would be completed by 2012.

COUNCIL EXTENDS CONGO MISSION MANDATE -– SUBJECT TO REVIEW –- UNTIL 15 JUNE 2002
Unanimously Adopts Resolution 1355 (2001)
The Security Council this morning extended the mandate of the United Nations Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) until 15 June 2002. That extension is, however, subject to a review of progress every four months.

COUNCIL EXTENDS CYPRUS FORCE MANDATE TO 15 DECEMBER 2001
Noting that the Government of Cyprus has agreed that in view of conditions prevailing in the island it is necessary to keep the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) beyond 15 June, the Security Council this morning decided to extend the Mission’s mandate for a further six months until 15 December.
