ASIAN REGIONAL MEETING TO PREPARE FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT SUMMIT


BANGKOK, 21 November (UN Information Service) -- A high-level 3 day regional meeting will take place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, next week -- from 27-29 November -- to articulate the regional position for the world summit on sustainable development to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, next year.

On Saturday afternoon, 17 November, Secretary-General Kofi Annan left New York for an overnight trip to Ottawa, Canada, to talk to the members of the Finance and Development Committees of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund during a private dinner.
