CONFERENCE ON DISARMAMENT TO OPEN 2005 SESSION ON 24 JANUARY

GENEVA, 20 January (UN Information Service) -- The Conference on Disarmament, the world's sole multilateral forum for disarmament negotiations, will open its 2005 session on Monday, 24 January, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.  The first public plenary will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, 27 January.

COMMITTEE NEGOTIATING TREATY ON RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

 

TO MEET AT UN HEADQUARTERS, 24 JANUARY - 4 FEBRUARY


Delegates drafting the first-ever convention on the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities will continue negotiations at a two-week session to be held from 24 January to 4 February at United Nations Headquarters (Conference  Room 4).

Counter-Terrorism Meeting Set for Almaty, Kazakhstan, 26-28 January 2005


NEW YORK, 19 January --The United Nations will press its case for universal participation in the fight against terrorism at a meeting of more than 70 international, regional and subregional organizations in Almaty, Kazakhstan, this month (26-28 January 2005).
