United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Professor Ǻke Sellström of Sweden to head the United Nations fact-finding mission which will investigate allegations of the reported use of chemical weapons in Syria.
With youth comprising almost 20 per cent of the global population and being among the most affected by global economic, social and environmental challenges, the United Nations Economic and Social Council will organize a youth forum at New York Headquarters to explore opportunities in today’s world for young people aged between 15 and 24 years.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Tegegnework Gettu of Ethiopia as Under-Secretary-General for General Assembly and Conference Management, replacing Jean-Jacques Graisse of Belgium, to whom the Secretary-General is grateful for having served as Acting Head of Department with dedication and able leadership.
On 23 March 2013, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999) and 1989 (2011) approved the deletion (de-listing) of the entries specified below from the Al-Qaida Sanctions List. The assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 2083 (2012) therefore no longer apply to the following entries:
