United Nations Secretary‑General António Guterres announced today his decision to establish the International Commission of Inquiry envisioned by the Agreement on Peace and Reconciliation in Mali.  He appointed Lena Sundh (Sweden), Vinod Boolell (Mauritius) and Simon Munzu (Cameroon) to serve as Commissioners and selected Ms. Sundh as Chair.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today announced the appointment of Renata Dwan of Ireland as Director of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR).  The Secretary-General is grateful to Jarmo Sareva of Finland for his dedication and commitment in leading the Institute since 2015.

The Secretary-General today announced the appointment of Dmitry Titov of the Russian Federation to lead a special investigation into recent attacks on peacekeepers and peacekeeping bases in the Beni territory of North Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of Congo.  This special investigation will include a focus on the 7 December attack in Semuliki, in which 15 Tanzanian peacekeepers were killed, 43 wounded and 1 remains missing.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced today the appointment of Christian Saunders of the United Kingdom as Assistant Secretary-General for the Office of Central Support-Services in the Department of Management.  He will succeed Stephen Cutts, to whom the Secretary-General and the Under-Secretary-General for Management are grateful for his commitment and dedicated service to the Organization.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, following consultations with the Chairpersons of the regional groups of Member States, today informed the General Assembly of his intention to appoint Maimunah Mohd Sharif of Malaysia as the next Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat).
