Sixth Committee Legal Begins Debate on Crimes against Humanity
(Note: Due to the financial liquidity crisis affecting the United Nations and the resulting constraints, this meeting was not covered.)
The Sixth Committee on Legal Affairs began its debate on crimes against humanity Wednesday, 9 October, in the afternoon, half a day ahead of the announced programme of work.
This past April, and for the second year in a row, the Sixth Committee held a resumed session debating whether to codify the International Law Commission’s draft articles on the prevention and punishment of crimes against humanity. (For background, see Press Release GA/L/3713.)
The Sixth Committee will continue its debate on Thursday, 10 October, at 10 a.m.
