New Permanent Representative of South Sudan Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of South Sudan to the United Nations, Cecilia A.M. Adeng, presented her credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres today.

Before her appointment, she was Deputy Permanent Representative of South Sudan’s Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2018 to 2023, having served as Deputy Head of Mission to the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi between 2015 and 2018.

From 2010 to 2015, she was promoted to Office Manager for the President of South Sudan in Juba, after serving as Administrative Assistant in the Government of Southern Sudan’s Mission to the United States, in Washington, D.C., from 2007 to 2010.

Ms. Adeng completed undergraduate and graduate studies in the United States, obtaining a master’s degree in public administration from Howard University, Washington, D.C., and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee.
