United Nations International School to Hold Graduation Ceremony at Headquarters

The United Nations International School (UNIS) will hold its graduation ceremony in the General Assembly Hall at United Nations Headquarters in New York on 2 June.  António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General, will deliver the commencement address to the graduating class.

Graduating seniors will leave UNIS for 77 of the world's universities in eight countries including Canada, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States, amongst others.  The 128 graduates represent 64 nationalities and speak 27 home languages.  Thirty-five students have been at UNIS since kindergarten and approximately 50 per cent of the student families are affiliated with the United Nations.

Taught and supported by staff and faculty representing 57 countries, students receive an academically rigorous international education in nine languages.  Under the auspices of the United Nations, UNIS fosters innovation, creativity and cross-cultural communication, educating and inspiring its students to become an active force in shaping a better world:  peaceful, compassionate and sustainable.
