New Permanent Representative of Hungary Pays Courtesy Call on Secretary-General

The new Permanent Representative of Hungary to the United Nations, Zsuzsanna Horváth, paid a courtesy call on UN Secretary-General António Guterres today.  She earlier presented her credentials to the Secretariat on 16 February.  (See Press Release BIO/5374.)

Before her latest appointment, Ms. Horváth was her country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, as well as to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Switzerland, beginning in 2014.

She served as Deputy State Secretary for Foreign Economic Relations in the State Secretariat for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in the Prime Minister’s Office from March 2013 to June 2014, having previously acted as Director-General for Foreign Affairs from 2012 to 2013.

Between 2007 and 2012, Ms. Horváth was a judge in Hungary’s Supreme Court.  She also served as a legal drafter, trainee judge and court secretary in the same Court from 2002 to 2007, before which she was an adviser with the National Assembly’s Health and Social Affairs Committee, from 1999 until 2000.

Ms. Horváth holds a doctorate degree in law and political science and a master’s from Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Hungary.
