Secretary-General Condemns Market Bombings, Checkpoint Suicide Attack in Pakistan

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres:

The Secretary-General condemns the twin bombings at a marketplace in Parachinar, in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan, and a suicide attack at a checkpoint in Quetta, Balochistan.  He hopes those responsible for these crimes will be swiftly brought to justice.

The Secretary-General extends his condolences to the families of the victims and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.  He expresses his solidarity with the people and Government of Pakistan, and its efforts to fight terrorism and violent extremism.
