Secretary-General, in Message for Chinese Lunar New Year, Thanks China for Supporting Work of United Nations
Following is the text of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s video message released today for the Chinese Lunar New Year:
Dear UN Meipai subscribers, dear UN Weibo followers,
春节快乐! 我是联合国秘书长潘基文. [“Happy Lunar New Year! I’m Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General of the United Nations.”]
The Year of Monkey has come. I’m also a “monkey”. Monkey implies intelligence, agility and good fortune. So, it’s a good year full of hope and energy.
This year is also the first year of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals. We wish to have a good start from the year of the lucky monkey.
I thank China and Chinese people for supporting the work of United Nations and myself in the past nine years. I hope we can all continue to work together towards a better future.
I wish you health, happiness and success in the year of monkey!
祝大家猴年大吉. 谢谢! [“Wish you success in the year of Monkey! Thank you!”]
