New Permanent Representative of Guyana Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Guyana to the United Nations, Rudolph Michael Ten-Pow, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.

Until his latest appointment, Mr. Ten-Pow was the Special Advisor to the United Nations Coordinator for Multilingualism.  Prior to that, he was Acting Director of Documentation Division at the United Nations, from 2015 to 2016, and Senior Program Manager for Conference Services at the World Bank, between 2013 and 2015.

Mr. Ten-Pow held several other positions within the United Nations, including Chief of English Translation Service and Deputy Director of Documentation Division, from 2009 to 2013; Senior Reviser and Training Officer in English Translation Service, from 2005 to 2009; and Translator at the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, between 1987 and 1991.  He also served as Venezuelan Desk Officer and Head of the Frontiers Division at Guyana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1980 to 1986.

Born in 1953, Mr. Ten-Pow holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French, Spanish and Portuguese from University of Guyana, and post-graduate diplomas in translation and conference interpreting from the University of Geneva in Switzerland.  He also holds a master’s degree in liberal studies with concentration in international relations from the City University of New York.

He is married and has three children.
