New Permanent Representative of Marshall Islands Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of the Marshall Islands to the United Nations, Amatlain Elizabeth Kabua, presented her credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today. She held the same post between 2012 and 2014, when she took a leave of absence.
Prior to her appointment at the United Nations in New York, Ms. Kabua served as her country’s Ambassador to Fiji between 2009 and 2012. She held several other positions since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1997, including Foreign Service Consultant from 2003 to 2009, and Ambassador to Japan from 1997 to 2003.
Ms. Kabua was the Mayor of Majuro Atoll Local Government between 1986 and 1997.
Born on 15 August 1953, she was educated at Chaminade University in Hawaii, United States.
