In Video Message to Award Ceremony, Secretary-General Praises Michael Douglas as True Humanitarian, Tireless Advocate for Peace

Following is the text of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s video message to the Genesis Award ceremony, in Jerusalem today:

Dear friends of Michael Douglas and the UN, ladies and gentlemen,

I warmly congratulate Michael Douglas on receiving the Genesis Award.  He has inspired many people as a champion of disarmament and non-proliferation.

I am also deeply grateful to him for his tireless advocacy as a United Nations Messenger of Peace.

Whether he speaks to world leaders or the public, Michael Douglas embodies the values of the United Nations.  He is a true humanitarian.

I thank him for his invaluable support — and I wish him continued great success.  Thank you.
