Activities of Secretary-General in Mali, 20 December

On Saturday, 20 December, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon flew to Bamako, Mali, the fourth and last leg of his visit to Ebola-affected countries in West Africa.

Upon arrival, the Secretary-General was greeted by senior United Nations staff based in the country, before a meeting with President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta.  He expressed his appreciation for the swift and determined reaction by Malian authorities to imported cases of Ebola.

In the evening, the Secretary-General flew back from Bamako to Accra, Ghana, where he met with staff working at the headquarters of the United Nations Mission for Ebola Emergency Response, UNMEER, before heading back to New York.
