Secretary-General Appoints Tom Arnold of Ireland Coordinator A.I.

of Movement on Scaling Up Nutrition

 

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Tom Arnold as Coordinator a.i. of the Movement on Scaling Up Nutrition, further to the announcement, on 12 August, of the appointment of Dr. David Nabarro as Senior United Nations System Coordinator for Ebola.

Mr. Arnold will serve as Movement on Scaling Up Nutrition Coordinator a.i. for the next six months, as the Ebola crisis will take up a majority of Dr. Nabarro’s time.  Dr. Nabarro will retain his formal position as Coordinator.

Mr. Arnold, a Scaling Up Nutrition Lead Group member, and the Director General of the Irish Institute of International and European Affairs, has served in various senior positions in the European Union and Ireland.  He was the Chief Executive of Ireland’s largest humanitarian agency, Concern Worldwide, for more than 10 years.
