Secretary-General Welcomes General Assembly Resolution on Kosovo Independence

 

The following statement was issued on 10 September by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General welcomes the resolution adopted by the General Assembly yesterday and the readiness of the European Union to facilitate a process of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.  He reiterates the importance of dialogue between the parties as a factor promoting peace, security and stability in the context of the European perspective for the region and reaffirms the readiness of the United Nations to contribute to this effort in close coordination with the European Union.
