Secretary-General Appoints Kim Bolduc of Canada Deputy Special Representative

for United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Kim Bolduc of Canada as his Deputy Special Representative for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), where she will also serve as United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator.  She succeeds Joel Boutroue of France.  The Secretary-General is grateful to Mr. Boutroue for his dedication and service in Haiti.

Ms. Bolduc brings to the Mission in Haiti broad experience in preparing and managing development and post-conflict recovery programmes in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.  As United Nations Resident Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme Resident Representative in Brazil since 2006, she also served as Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative in Honduras and Peru.  In 2003, Ms. Bolduc was Special Adviser to the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq, as well as Area Humanitarian Coordinator for Southern Iraq.

Her prior experience includes working for the Canadian International Development Agency, the United Nations Office for Emergency Operations in Africa, and serving as the delegate for the Office of the United Nations Disaster Relief Coordinator in Mozambique for five years, during which she supported humanitarian operations in several Southern African countries.  

Ms. Bolduc holds a master’s degree in international development and cooperation and a bachelor’s degree in linguistics and interpretation from the University of Ottawa.

Born in Viet Nam, Ms. Bolduc is married and has one child.
