New Permanent Representative of FormerYugoslavRepublic

 

of Macedonia Presents Credentials

Igor Dzundev, the new Permanent Representative of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to the United Nations, today presented his credentials to Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Before assuming his present duties, Mr. Dzundev served as the State Secretary of his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after performing various functions in the Multilateral Affairs department of that ministry.  Those included, from 1998 to 2000, Head of the Directorate for political relations with the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Council of Europe Affairs.

From 1994 to 1998, he worked at his country’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, serving as First Secretary and then as Counsellor, following a post as Second Secretary in the United Nations Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Dzundev began his diplomatic career in 1990 as an attaché in the Department for Multilateral Economic Affairs, after working on commercial export issues for a chemical factory in Skopje (1989 to 1990).

Having attended the ViennaDiplomaticAcademy from 1991 to 1992, Mr. Dzundev holds an economics degree from the Cyril and MethodiusUniversity in Skopje.

He was born on 12 June 1963 and is married with two children.
