Biographical Note
NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF LESOTHO PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

Lebohang Kenneth Moleko, the new Permanent Representative of Lesotho to the United Nations, presented his credentials today to Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Moleko served in 2001 as his country's Permanent Representative (Designate) to the United Nations.
From 1994 to 2000, Mr. Moleko was Lesotho's Ambassador to a number of countries, including Mexico, United States, China, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Thailand and Japan. He also served during the period from 1995 to 1999 as Lesotho’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia and India.
During an academic career at the National University of Lesotho from 1977 to 1998, Mr. Moleko held the posts of Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, Instructor, Demonstrator and Lecturer of Physics. While at the University, he also served as Head of the Physics Department, Chairman of the Admissions Committee, Member of the Council and Senate, and Chairman of the Technical Services Committee of the Faculty of Science.
Mr. Moleko received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland, a Master of Science degree in Physics from the University of Cincinnati, and a Doctorate in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Ottawa. He also holds an Advanced Training Certificate in Conflict Management from the University of Maryland.
Mr. Moleko has collaborated in the preparation of numerous scientific publications, and has participated in a variety of scientific seminars, workshops, conferences and symposiums. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Physicists and the American Physical Society.
Born on 12 October 1950 in Lesotho, Mr. Moleko is married and has three children.
