19960711 BOOK BY PRESIDENT OF KAZAKSTAN PRESENTED TO UNITED NATIONSOn the Threshold of the 21st Century, a book by President of Kazakstan Nursultan Nazarbaev, was today presented to the United Nations by its Permanent Representative, Akmaral Kh. Arystanbekova. The book, which is written in Russian, was personally inscribed by the Permanent Representative and accepted, for the United Nations, by Assistant Secretary-General for Public Information Samir Sanbar.
In his book, which has three sections, President Nazarbaev analyses the events in the Soviet Union prior to its break-up, reviews the developments in Kazakstan, describing its role as a sovereign nation in the international community, and outlines its current priorities. He details his meetings with world leaders and political personalities, and comments on the international order on the eve of the new millennium.
President Nazarbaev's book will be placed in the collection of the Dag Hammarskjold Library.
