HUMANITARIAN EFFORT LAUNCHED FOR INDONESIA FLOOD VICTIMS


NEW YORK, 4 November (OCHA) -- The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has deployed a two-person team to the Langkat district of North Sumatra, Indonesia.  The team will help local authorities coordinate emergency response, assess needs and plan assistance in response to the flash floods that hit the area in recent days.

NEW YORK, 4 November (OCHA) -- Fighting that erupted on Friday between the Mayi-Mayi militia and a Rwandan rebel group in South Kivu Province, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, has resulted in the displacement of thousands of civilians.

VAST HUMANITARIAN NEEDS FOUND IN SOUTH KIVU PROVINCE,

OF HUMANITARIAN SITUATION IN SOOL PLATEAU, SOMALIA


NAIROBI, 30 October (OCHA) -– United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia Maxwell Gaylard is deeply concerned that the potential failure of the current short season Deyr rains in the Sool Plateau of Somalia could precipitate a humanitarian disaster affecting 15,500 pastoralist families.
