The United Nations system had agreed last week on a process for strengthening its commitment to the goals established at the 1995 World Social Summit in Copenhagen, the Third Committee (Social Humanitarian and Cultural) was told this afternoon, as it continued its discussion of social development questions.

The Secretary-General was invited to promote cooperation between the United Nations and the Agency for Cultural and Technical Cooperation, by the terms of a resolution which the General Assembly adopted this morning without a vote.
Tomorrow, October 17, is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, and next year is observed as the International Year for the Eradication of Poverty. A logo has been adopted for the Year which will be used on all information products and material relating to the Year. (Copy overleaf.)
