KINGSTON, 27 August (International Seabed Authority) -- The Council of the International Seabed Authority, by roll-call vote of 26 to 3 (Poland, Russian Federation and Ukraine), this afternoon recommended Assembly approval of the Authority's revised $5,011,700 budget for 1999.

KINGSTON, 26 August (International Seabed Authority) -- The Council of the International Seabed Authority today continued deliberations on the seabed mining code, with a number of delegations proposing amendments to regulations 20 and 21, dealing with contracts for exploration.
GENEVA, 27 August (UN Information Service) -- The Conference on Disarmament, approaching the close of its 1998 session, this morning heard reports from its five Special Coordinators on anti-personnel landmines, prevention of an arms race in outer space, transparency in armaments, improved and effective functioning of the Conference, and review of the agenda.
