Fred Eckhard, Spokesman for the Secretary-General, began today's press briefing by welcoming Anthony Hewett, the representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) based in Bangkok, who would brief correspondents on the humanitarian situation in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
