Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations

Opening its 2023 session today, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations recommended 110 entities for special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and deferring action on 46 others.

The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today closed its resumed session for 2022, which began on 29 August, approving its report and recommending that the Economic and Social Council grant special consultative status to 173 entities out of the 564 applications it examined.  The Committee deferred 319 requests for further consideration during its ordinary session in 2023, according to Vice-President Mine Ozgul Bilman (Türkiye).

The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations this morning recommended that the Economic and Social Council grant special consultative status to 170 civil society organizations after examining a total of 564 requests and 317 quadrennial reports.

The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations continued its 2022 session today, recommending 10 entities for special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council and deferring action on 78 others, pending their response to additional questions posed by Committee members.

During its resumed 2022 session today, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations recommended that the Economic and Social Council grant special consultative status to 46 entities, while deferring action on 85 others — with delegates requesting that they provide additional information on their financial statements, present or past activities, or guarantees of how they maintain independence when using Government funds.

The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today began its 2022 resumed session by recommending 106 organizations for special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council and postponed action on 44 others, pending their response to additional questions posed by Committee members.

Concluding its 2022 regular session today, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations approved its draft report — as orally revised to reflect substantive disagreement among members on several matters — and recommended that the Economic and Social Council grant consultative status to a total of 203 organizations.
