UNEP AND IAEA EXPLORING DEPLETED URANIUM MISSIONS
TO BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA, YUGOSLAVIA AND IRAQ
VIENNA, 15 February (IAEA) -- The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) wishes to announce that Kwaku Aning has been appointed as the Representative of the Director-General of the IAEA to the United Nations and as Director of its Office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Mr. Aning assumed his duties on 1 February 2000.
GENEVA, 26 January (IAEA) - A physical inventory verification of nuclear material remaining at the Tuwaitha site in Iraq was carried out by a five-person International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) team between 22 and 25 January, pursuant to the Safeguards Agreement with Iraq in connection with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
VIENNA, 4 October (IAEA) - At its first meeting today, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors for 1999-2000 has elected the Governor of Brazil, Mr. Sergio de Queiroz Duarte as its Chairman. Ambassador Queiroz Duarte is the Resident Representative of Brazil to the IAEA and international organizations in Vienna.
Vienna, 1 October (IAEA) -- The International Atomic Energy Agency learned at approximately 9 a.m. Vienna time on September 30 that an apparent criticality accident had occurred at a fuel conversion plant in Tokaimura.
VIENNA, 30 September (IAEA) -- The forty-third regular session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has elected 11 member States to the IAEA Board of Governors, the 35- member policy-making body.
