Former Permanent Representative of Canada To United Nations Is First Person to Serve in Post

The Secretary-General has appointed Major General Tim Ford as Military Advisor in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations. The appointment will become effective on 15 September.
Secretary-General Kofi Annan has appointed Jean-Marie Guéhenno of France as Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, effective 1 October.
Secretary-General Kofi Annan has appointed Maria-Luisa Chavez as the Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Athens, Greece. She is expected to take up her duties on 20 June.

Secretary-General Kofi Annan has appointed Marie Heuzé as the Director of the United Nations Information Service in Geneva. She will take up her duties on 5 June.
The Secretary-General has appointed Razali Ismail as his Special Envoy for Myanmar. The Secretary-General hopes that Mr. Razali will be able to visit Myanmar shortly to carry out the Secretary-Generals good offices efforts to facilitate the implementation of General Assembly resolution 54/186.
