Secretary-General Saddened by Deadly Fire at Church in Egypt

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres:

The Secretary-General is saddened by the tragic fire that occurred at the Coptic Abu Sifin church in Giza, Egypt, killing and injuring dozens of worshipers, including children.

He expresses his deepest condolences to the families of the victims of this horrific accident, as well as to the Government and people of Egypt, and wishes a swift recovery to those injured.
