Security Council 2140 Committee Considers Midterm Update of Panel of Experts

On 9 September, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2140 (2014) held informal consultations to consider the midterm update of the Panel of Experts, submitted in accordance with paragraph 16 of resolution 2624 (2022).

During the informal consultations, the Committee heard a presentation by the Coordinator of the Panel of Experts.  The presentation was then followed by an interactive discussion between Committee members and the Panel.

The Coordinator informed the Committee of the work of the Panel since the submission of the midterm update.  The Coordinator reported to the Committee on the impact of the relative period of peace brought about by the ongoing United Nations-facilitated truce which began on 2 April and the remaining tasks, such as the opening of roads around the city of Taiz.  The Coordinator also reported to the Committee on the Panel’s investigations on the January terrorist attacks on the United Arab Emirates.

Subsequently, the Committee discussed the recommendations contained in the midterm update.
