Security Council Sanctions Committee on South Sudan Confirms Alleged Addendum to Final Report of Panel of Experts Not Authentic
The Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2206 (2015) concerning South Sudan has been made aware of a document purporting to be an addendum to the final report of the Panel of Experts on South Sudan, discussing recent violence in Maiwut and Leer (Unity State).
The Committee wishes to confirm that the above-mentioned document is not authentic. The Panel’s final report was published as a document of the Security Council on 28 April 2022 (document S/2022/359). No such addendum has been issued since the publication of the final report.
The Committee also wishes to reiterate paragraph 20 of Security Council resolution 2633 (2022), adopted on 26 May 2022, by which the Council called upon all parties and all Member States, as well as international, regional and subregional organizations, to ensure cooperation with the Panel of Experts, including by providing any information on illicit transfers of wealth from South Sudan into financial, property and business networks, and further urged all Member States involved to ensure the safety of the members of the Panel of Experts and unhindered access, in particular to persons, documents and sites in order for the Panel of Experts to execute its mandate.
