Secretary-General Appoints Tapan Mishra of India United Nations Resident Coordinator in Mongolia

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Tapan Mishra of India as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Mongolia, with the host Government’s approval.

Mr. Mishra has served as United Nations Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea since June 2015.

With over 16 years of professional experience, he has held several positions at United Nations Headquarters, including Chief of the Learning Resources Centre, Senior Adviser to the Director of the Bureau of Policy and Programme Support, Senior Adviser at Country Offices and with the Human Development Report Office.

Before joining the United Nations, he had nearly a decade of experience in the public and private sector.

Born in 1960, Mr. Mishra is a Management Postgraduate from India’s XLRI Jamshedpur Business School.  He has been teaching Human Resources Management in India and in the United States, including at Columbia University’s School for International and Public Affairs in New York.
