Secretary-General Saddened by Loss of Life in Nigeria Flooding

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary‑General António Guterres:

The Secretary‑General is saddened to learn of the loss of life in flooding caused by heavy seasonal rains in Nigeria.  The Secretary‑General extends his condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Nigeria.

The United Nations is supporting the Government with needs assessment and stands ready to provide assistance.
