Security Council 2374 Committee Meets to Consider Final Report of Mali Panel of Experts

On 7 August 2018, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2374 (2017) concerning Mali held informal consultations to consider the final report of the Mali Panel of Experts, submitted in accordance with paragraph 11 of resolution 2374 (2017).

During the meeting the Panel’s four experts presented the main findings of their final report, including observations on the implementation of the Agreement on Peace and Reconciliation in Mali, armed groups and attacks against the Malian army, organized crime, violations of international humanitarian and human rights law and regional political and security developments.  The experts responded to questions and comments from Committee members who expressed their appreciation for the Panel’s work and the detailed information contained in its report.  Committee members discussed the recommendations of the Panel.

The Panel’s final report will be issued as a document of the Security Council under document symbol S/2018/581 by 1 September 2018.  The report will be available in all official languages on the 2374 Committee’s webpage: www.un.org/sc/suborg/en/sanctions/2374/panel-experts/reports.
