New Permanent Representative of Mauritania Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Mauritania to the United Nations, Ousmane Ba, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres today.

Prior to his latest appointment, Mr. Ba was Mauritania’s Ambassador to the Gambia from July 2016 to January 2017.

Between 2014 and 2016, he was Mauritania’s Minister for National Education and from September 2013 to February 2014 served as Minister for Primary Education.

From 2008 to September 2013, Mr. Ba was Minister Secretary-General for the Government of Mauritania.  Prior to that, in May 2007, he was appointed Secretary-General of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Before that, Mr. Ba served from 2003 to 2007 as a coordinator on an International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) project aimed at fighting poverty, and from 1997 to 2003 as an expert in administration and management on a United Nations project for the Assaba region.

Mr. Ba holds a Bachelor of Arts in social sciences from Mauritania’s University of Nouakchott.
