Align Priorities with 2030 Agenda So Sustainable Development Benefits All Asians, Secretary-General Urges Governments at Bangkok Summit
Following is the text of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s video message to the Second Summit of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue, in Bangkok today:
I am pleased to send greetings to the Second Summit of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue. I thank Thailand for hosting and for its longstanding commitment to regional collaboration.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is our plan for people, the planet, prosperity and peace.
Governments can help drive sustainable development across Asia. To succeed, we need all stakeholders. I welcome your summit’s engagement with leaders from business, the private sector and civil society.
Your theme — “One Asia, Diverse Strengths” — is inspiring. I count on you to build on your shared values to promote inclusiveness.
By aligning Asia’s priorities with the 2030 Agenda, you can ensure that all Asians benefit from sustainable development. And by endorsing the ACD Vision 2030 and the Bangkok Declaration, you can help forge a path to shared prosperity for generations to come.
