Condemning Deadly Terrorist Attack in Turkey, Secretary-General Says United Nations ‘Stands in Solidarity’ with People

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon:

The Secretary-General condemns the explosion reportedly caused by a car bomb in Ankara today.  The explosion, which occurred at rush hour in the heart of the city, claimed the lives of at least 28 people and injured dozens more.

The Secretary-General hopes the perpetrators of this terrorist attack will be swiftly brought to justice.  He sends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.  The United Nations stands in solidarity with the people and the Government of Turkey at this tragic time.
