Secretary-General Appoints Hubert Price of United States Head of United Nations Support Office in Somalia
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Hubert Price of the United States as Head of the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS).
Mr. Price brings to his new position more than 20 years of experience in United Nations peacekeeping operations, most recently as Director of Mission Support for the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) between 2010 and 2015, and later as Acting Assistant Secretary-General in the Department of Field Support until June 2016.
From 2003 to 2004, Mr. Price served as Chief of Integrated Support Services in the United Nations Mission of Support in East Timor (UNMISET), after which he spent two years as Chief Administrative Officer in the United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI). He then served as Chief of Mission Support in the United Nations Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) from 2006 until 2010, during which period he acted simultaneously as interim Chief of Staff.
A retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Armed Forces, Mr. Price has been involved in United Nations peacekeeping operations since 1994, serving in various capacities in Mozambique and Angola, as well as at the United Nations Logistics Base in Brindisi, Italy.
A graduate of the University of Richmond, Virginia, Mr. Price also holds an advanced degree in systems management from the University of Southern California.
Born in 1953, he is married and has two children.
