Security Council Sanctions Committee Concerning Central African Republic Convenes Meeting with Regional States Regarding Midterm Report of Panel of Experts
On 9 September 2016, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2127 (2013) concerning the Central African Republic held a meeting with the representatives of the Central African Republic, Chad, Ethiopia, South Africa, Sudan and Uganda in connection with the midterm report of the Panel of Experts dated 11 August 2016 (S/2016/694).
Regional States and Committee members also exchanged views with a view to improving the implementation of the sanctions measures contained in resolution 2262 (2016), particularly the travel ban.
In this connection, the Chair of the Committee encouraged regional States to revert to their capitals and seek confirmation that the Committee’s sanctions list had been made available at airports, ports and border crossings, to State and commercial banks, and to national and commercial airlines. He also underlined the importance of regional States strengthening their cooperation with the Panel of Experts.
The regional States were also encouraged to submit implementation reports in pursuance of paragraph 30 of resolution 2262 (2016).
