Secretariat, Panel of Experts Brief Security Council Sanctions Committee on Central African Republic Prior to Chair’s Visit
On 18 May 2016, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2127 (2013) concerning the Central African Republic received updates on the situation in the Central African Republic from representatives of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, and the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict.
The briefings took place in the lead-up to the Chair’s visit to the Central African Republic from 24 to 27 May 2016. This will be the second visit of a Chair of the Committee to the Central African Republic, following the first visit in August 2015.
The Coordinator of the Panel of Experts also briefed members of the Committee in connection with the Panel’s progress update of 10 May, which was submitted in pursuance of paragraph 23 (d) of resolution 2262 (2016).
Members of the Committee welcomed the updates by the Secretariat and the Panel, noting that the information, conveyed in a timely manner ahead of the Chair’s visit, was very useful.
